So who am I?
My name is Adrian Schmidt. I work as a web developer at Kjell & Company in Malmö, Sweden. I love the internet and the web, and the possibilities they bring.
In 2009 I had the privilege to turn my amateur skills in web development into my primary professional task, and I have had the pleasure of doing what I love for a living ever since.
Currently I basically work alone on the code end of things, so I do everything from configuring web servers, through writing server- and client-side code, to converting layouts from psd-files to markup and CSS. The upside of this is that I have a much better understanding of the whole stack than I ever did before. The downside is that it is hard to really become great at any one these things.
Even though I really love coding, I do not actually spend a lot of my spare time doing it. That seems a bit unusual these days, but the fact of the matter is that there are a few other things I also love doing, and since I have not (as of yet) been offered any money to do them, I simply have to do them in my spare time :)
Perhaps the most noticeable, especially on this site, is my interest in religion. I myself am an atheist, meaning simply that I do not believe in anything supernatural. I am, as the word atheist suggests, simply not a theist. Strictly speaking, I am also an agnostic, as I do not believe that we can prove the non-existence of every conceivable god-like being.
Most people that know me would probably place me among the so called “new atheists”, meaning atheists that are actively debating theists and “trying to convert them”. Actually, people can believe whatever they like, so long as they recognise that it is a belief, not a fact, and so long that it is not mutually exclusive to any known facts or pure logic and reasoning. In short; if your god disagrees with science, science wins.
